Important Travel Update: Potential New Health Certificate Rules for Your Animal's Upcoming Trip
As some of you prepare for summer travel, it is important to know that the recent detection of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Texas has changed travel requirements for many U.S. states and has the potential to change travel requirements for international movement. We strongly encourage those traveling to frequently check the APHIS USDA website for the latest update on travel requirements and restrictions:

What this means for your upcoming travel within the U.S.:
- Timing is critical: Several states now require health certificate exams to be performed within 5 days of your travel date. Please contact us for state appropriate appointment timing.
- Parasite treatment: Several states now require an FDA approved product to be administered if a pet is originating from a screwworm infected zone. In-hospital administration of NWS treatment by one of our accredited veterinarians may be required.
- Potential State Permits: Depending on your destination state, you may need a specialized entry permit alongside your health certificate.
What this means for your upcoming travel outside of the U.S.:
- Consultations: We highly recommend consultation appointments for all international health certificates. At these appointments we can discuss the most up-to-date travel information and ensure your pet meets all current requirements for travel. The cost of your consultation appointment will be deducted from the cost of your final health certificate appointment!
