Important Announcement Regarding International Travel and Health Certificates As of December 2025
December 17, 2025

Please be aware that there are currently significant delays in the USDA’s processing of international health certificates. These delays are due to major staffing reductions, along with a high volume of requests for pet health certificates due to the holidays. As a result, endorsement turnaround times are taking much longer than usual.

When certificates are submitted to the USDA, it is possible that revisions may be required. These revisions may arise from differences in country-specific requirements or from the interpretation of the USDA-assigned reviewer. Because certificates may be reviewed by different reviewers at different stages, not all requested changes are identified during the initial review. As a result, revisions are frequently requested incrementally rather than all at once. These edits are completed immediately and returned for review and are typically expected to be returned successfully; however, recently this has not occurred in every instance.

The USDA is currently recommending that only service animals or pets that are relocating permanently travel internationally. Recreational or leisure travel with pets is discouraged until processing times improve.

Pet owners are strongly encouraged to plan well in advance and work closely with a USDA-accredited veterinarian to understand the requirements for international travel. Please note that once a certificate is submitted to the USDA, the return timeframe is not guaranteed and is entirely outside of our control. By proceeding, you acknowledge and accept this risk, and refunds will not be issued based on delays or outcomes related to this process.
