Cryosurgery

Non-invasive surgery to freeze and kill pet skin disorders.

We’re proud to offer cryosurgery for our patients. Cryosurgery is a safe, noninvasive form of surgery that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destory small skin masses and lesions. It’s quick, relatively painless, and typically does not require any kind of anesthesia, although we may recommend your pet be sedated for the procedure.

How does cryosurgery work?

Cryosurgery is a cutting-edge procedure that uses liquid nitrogen cooled to -127°F to freeze skin masses and unwanted tissue. We carry out the surgery using a cryoprobe that targets the affected area right down to the millimeter. The nitrogen’s freezing temperature numbs the nerve endings and ruptures the skin cells, eventually causing the mass to fall away.

A safe and non-invasive alternative to traditional surgery when applicable, cryosurgery is used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:

  • Cysts
  • Lesions
  • Masses
  • Warts
  • Various skin disorders

When compared to traditional surgery, cryosurgery is cost-effective, requires fewer follow up appointments, and typically involves a much shorter recovery period.  Cryotherapy traditionally requires at least 2 treatments.
